Mansfield, Texas

The Mansfield Activities Center (MAC) is one of three buildings developed on the city’s thirteen acre municipal campus site. The campus was master planned to integrate the MAC, the library and the City Hall into the defining edge of a great public lawn.

The MAC is distinguished by large clerestory windows that flood the gymnasium floor with an abundance of natural light. The curved metal roof adds a distinctive and identifiable profile to the MAC. In addition to the large gymnasium, the MAC houses recreation offices, meeting rooms, the seniors’ center, children’s and teen’s areas, and a large kitchen. The senior’s center has separate areas for a variety of functions and activities such as pottery kilns, arts and crafts and exercise rooms. The MAC has been situated to allow the natural topography of the site to form a sheltered courtyard between it and the adjacent library.

The building was completed, along with the library, in early 2001.
