Mansfield, Texas

The Public Safety Building houses the administrative offices for the city’s police and fire departments as well as the offices and courtroom for the municipal court.  Located across the street from the city’s municipal campus, the building was designed to fit within the context set by the neighboring City Hall, library and activities center, also designed by Magee Architects.

Providing public accessibility while also maintaining the security required by the police and fire departments played a large role in the overall design of the building.   Entry and exits are carefully monitored and controlled. A large rotunda, complete with round columns and wood detailing, provides a formal atmosphere for the civic project and mimics the detailing found in the city hall across the street. The rotunda also facilitates the monitoring and control of the public access into and out of the building.

The building was completed in April, 2005.
