Magee Architects was tasked with designing a 4,500 s.f. addition to the existing 4,500 s.f. city hall and main city fire station. Because of a tight budget, the city hall could not be demolished and the staff could not be relocated. As a result, both facilities had to remain open throughout construction.

To update the existing city hall, the new addition's roof and walls were extended to encapsulate the existing building. This also helped make the building more energy efficient and weather tight.

A small plaza in front of the addition welcomes visitors from Main Street. The addition contains a new council chamber, a large meeting room, a lobby for public access, and staff offices. The existing building was reconfigured with new restrooms and the fire station was wrapped in stucco and masonry to match the new addition.
