Because of a tight budget, the Sansom Park Fire Station was remodeled within its existing footprint. The existing jail, police, and city hall complex surrounding the existing building were demolished and relocated to a new site, also designed by Magee Architects. The resulting land will be used for a future pocket park.

The fire station includes living quarters and an office for the fire fighters, one outdoor drive through bay, two indoor truck bays, and gear storage.

Prior to construction, a fire truck door was left open and damaged the existing structural concrete panel between the bay doors. As part of the new construction, this wall was replaced.

To save costs, the City Hall, Police Station, Jail, and the Fire Station were constructed simultaneously in 2012.
