The 4.5 acre park site for the new Azle Memorial Library is accessed directly from the City of Azle’s Main Street. The library itself, however, sits on a bluff, away from the commercial interests of Main Street, and overlooks the site of a linear city park. The library, with its accompanying amphitheater and picnic pavilion, is designed to be a sanctuary in the adjacent park.

Using Texas stone and wood as dominant building materials, the library becomes a part of the natural landscape. Interior columns wrapped in stone help to merge the interior of the building with the surrounding landscape. A series of raised metal roofs provide three sections of clerestory windows that allow natural light to flood the library stacks.

The library features a large meeting room, staff workrooms, specialized teen and children’s areas, and the latest in book coding and cataloging RFID technology.
